Six Nations Iroquois Dancers, Khai Yas Dancers, Dick Lyons Dance Troupe

Description

In 1986, this group of Haudenosaunee, Kwakiutl, and Ojibwe dancers “joined forces” on a British tour, sponsored by Air Canada, “to present a colourful cross-section of various styles, with the dances accompanied by mouth music and traditional songs, and by the insistent beat of various drums and small percussion instruments.” One of the dancers, Simon Dick, also spent time at Air Canada’s office in Regent Street, London, to demonstrate Kwakiutl carving skills.
