In October 2018, filmmaker Dr. Jules Koostachin gave a director’s talk at Birkbeck following a screening of her film Butterfly Monument for the annual Native Spirit Film Festival. Butterfly Monument documents the creation of a public memorial dedicated to the late Shannen Koostachin, a young Cree education advocate from Attawapiskat First Nation, Moskekowok territory.
