Description
After a month-long residency at the University of East Anglia (June-July 2019), Sonny Assu curated and narrated an exhibition that drew on a combination of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art’s collection of Northwest Coast Indigenous art and contemporary British art, drawing attention in particularly to the erasure of conventional curatorial practice relating to Indigenous objects. He made work during the residency, including the painting in this site’s banner image, which is now in the permanent collection of the SCVA.
