The basketball team from St Mary’s School on the Kainai Reserve took a trip to Ireland in spring 1974 to play in a basketball tournament. On the way, they stopped in London. The Kainai News reported that “a tour of London was made with each one going his own way to sight-see and there was plenty to see. The favorite spot for the evening sightseeing was Piccadilly Circus. Six of our boys found out what night life was all about as they Dinéd at a high classed place and much to their amazement, found themselves staring at a bill for 44 pounds, which is about $100 in Canadian currency.”
