Description

Coming Singer enlisted in the 191st Battalion in 1916, at the age of 22. By April 1917, Coming Singer had arrived in Britain and was stationed at the Canadian training camp in Bramshott. He went to the front a few months later and fought there until he was invalided back to Britain in August 1918 with a gunshot wound to his ankle. Like Mike Foxhead and Joe Crowchief, he fought with the 50th Battalion, including at Passchendaele. By January 1919, he had been admitted to the Canadian Special Hospital in Lenham, Kent, which specialised in soldiers suffering from tuberculosis. Coming Singer died at the hospital in January 1919 and is buried in the town.
