Description

Nickawa performed at the Wesleyan Chapel here. She “sang and recited to a well attended meeting, and in the evening a splendid audience gathered in the Upper Schoolroom”.Miss Nickawa had a lengthy programme, and each item was enthusiastically encored. Perhaps her best effort was her presentation of Longfellow’s “˜Hiawatha’s Wooing,’ which was given in native costume. In her rendering, Miss Nickawa brought all her gifts into play and the result was a magnificent rendering.”
