Description
Running Elk and Black Eagle were students at Carlisle Indian Industrial School and members of the school’s football team, who were touring England. “[H]appening to be in Newport, [they] spent the evening at the Lyceum” attending a performance of A White Man. However, there is no corroborating evidence of Carlisle students being in Britain at this time or even of students of this name attending the school in this period.
