Description

Independently of his three countrymen, another Roanoke man was captured by Sir Richard Grenville and brought back to England. At the time, Grenville had come into conflict with a group of Roanoke men while searching for the missing colonists. Parish records show that “Rawly” was baptised in Bideford in March 1587 and that he died in the Devon town in 1589.
