Description
As part of the New York Ballet Company, Maria Tallchief performed “Firebird” at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. A reviewer described her as “a wild Firebird of strange angular beauty, possessing an imperious barbarity that melts away in the tenderness of her surrender to Prince Ivan.” The performance “commands attention by its highly dramatic treatment and the chance it gives Maria Tallchief to prove herself as prima ballerina.”
