In January 2013, Choctaw author and professor LeAnne Howe delivered a public lecture about her book Choctalking on Other Realities at the University of Kent. In 2017, she performed a reading of her poem Singing, Still, Libretto for the 1847 Choctaw Gift to the Irish for Famine Relief, co-written with Irish poet Doireann Ní Ghríofa, at the American Indian Workshop conference at Goldsmiths, University of London. Co-edited with Goldsmiths academic, Padraig Kirwan, the volume of essays Famine Pots: Choctaw-Irish Gift Exchange, 1847-2018 (Cork UP, 2020) explores the history and ongoing legacy of Choctaw-Irish friendship.
