John Ojijatekha Brant Sero

Description

Brant-Sero was a celebrity and performer both on the Six Nations Reserve in 1867. In 1891, he arrived in England, spending time as an actor and marrying a clergyman’s widow, before returning to Canada with his bride shortly afterwards. By the early 1900s, he had returned to England and began a lecture tour, attracting audiences of over 1,000. Very little is known of his life between 1902 and his death in 1914 of meningitis at West London Hospital but he did write a letter to the Globe newspaper advocating a memorial for his famous ancestor Joseph Brant from his address in Bridlington in 1906.
