Description
25th Feb 2020: Accompanying Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh’s Pine’s Eye show, Alan Hunt and other members of the Kwakwaka’wakw community used 15 new masks in a performance ceremony of the Atlakim story, the story of a boy who gets lost in the woods to be visited by many guiding spirits who teach him virtues. This was the first of its kind outside of Canada. Chief Hunt received his chieftainship from his grandfather, Chief Alfred (Hutch) Hunt, in 2015. He has also enjoyed the honor of being mentored by renowned carvers Beau Dick, Wayne Alfred, Marcus Alfred, and Bruce Alfred.
