Description
Chief of the Tyendinaga Mohawk, Annosothkah toured Britain speaking on his people’s customs in order to raise money for the church back home. In March 1887, for instance, he appeared at the Association Hall, Peter Street in Manchester to address the Colonial and Continental Church Society. In true colonial fashion, the Manchester Courier noted that he “belongs to a tribe whose loyalty to the English Crown and whose sober industry makes it one of the most interesting in Canada.”
