From April-May, 2019: Anishinaabe artist Nadia Myre’s show Code-Switching and Other Work “responds to the history of clay tobacco pipe production in Glasgow through photography, sculpture, sound and performance.” In doing so, the show, curated by Glasgow due Mother Tongue, explored the entanglement between the British Empire, Canada, and Indigenous peoples, speaking to the prominence and many valences of tobacco in that fraught relationship.
