Description

In 2006, a ceremony was held and a memorial laid inside and in the grounds of Southwark Cathedral, in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II. The ceremony honoured Mohegan sachem Mahomet Weyonomen, who had died in London while on a diplomatic mission in 1736 and who was buried in St. Saviour’s, as the church was then known.
