Description

Visit of George Catlin’s Ojibwe delegation to Waterloo Hall, Windsor Castle to meet Queen Victoria. Members: Ahe-que-we-xaintx (“the boy” – elder chief), Pattana-quotta-weebe (“swift driving cloud” – warrior chief), Weenish-ka-weebe (“flying gull”), Gialie-gas-e-ghe (“Bright moonlight night”), Waaeeb-abbe-neauch-qun (untranslateable – wife of Gialie), Nip-nah-ne-qua (daughter of Waaeeb), Shah-mah (“tobacco” – a young warrior), Ne-bet-neuch-qun (wife of Shah), and Notten-akm (“strong wind” – mixed race interpreter).
