This project was developed in a collaboration between the University of Kent’s School of Computing, Dr Rogerio de Lemos, Dr Virginia Franqueira, and Dr Marek Grzes, and the University of Kent’s Centre for Child Protection, Dr Tracee Green. It was funded by REPHRAIN.
This project’s overall vision was to investigate the role and provision of synthetic data for developing, evaluating, and comparing techniques for protecting young people from online harm.

Family on the Move was developed by the University of Kent’s Centre for Child Protection, the University of Stirling, and Terre des hommes in partnership with the University of Tirana, New Bulgaria University, University of Prishtina, University of Bucharest, University of Belgrade, State Pedagogical University of Chisinau. It was an Erasmus+ funded project.
This free, e-learning child protection module was developed for qualifying social work programmes in each of the partner countries.
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE): Looking Out for Lottie (2013 /2018)
Looking out for Lottie was developed by the University of Kent’s Centre for Child Protection with NHS Kent, Surrey and Sussex in 2013 and updated in collaboration with the NSPCC’s Childline in 2018. It was initially funded by NHS Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Exploring how technology can support traumatised young people in care to recognise, communicate and cope with strong emotions and manage their behaviour more effectively (2015)
This project was developed by the University of Kent, University of Portsmouth, ‘Snook’ and ‘Affective State’ (SME’s). It was funded by the Department for Education (DfE)’s Children’s Social Care Innovation Programme.
The project investigated if and how traumatised young people in care and their carers would want to use technology to keep them safe. It looked at how young people in care, aged between 12 and 18, use technology and how technology may support them with the additional issues they face as they navigate through adolescence and their care journey to independence and adulthood.
Supporting the aging population: RITA – Responsive InTeractive Advocate (2014)
RITA was developed by the University of Kent’s Centre for Child Protection in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth, WeAreSnook, and Affective State. It was funded by TSB.
