Applied Optics Group

Featured story

Virtual Centre for Biomedical Optics

The Applied Optics Group collaborates with a wide range of organisations locally and internationally, and working together we have translated technology from our Canterbury laboratories to research institutes, hospitals and universities in the UK and abroad.

Instrumentation for high-resolution optical imaging of patients and in-vitro tissue has been developed for areas including the retina, cornea, larynx, skin, basal cell carcinoma of eye lids, the tympanic membrane, neuronal tissue, embryos, and dental constructs, and for non-medical applications such as art conservation.
