We welcome enquiries at any time from potential research students who are self-funded or wish to apply for external scholarships, or from postdoctoral applicants interested in applying for fellowships to be held in the Applied Optics Group.
We offer 1-year research projects leading to an MSc (by Research) in Physics or 3-year projects leading to a PhD in Physics. You can read more about undertaking an MSc or PhD in the Applied Optics Group.
Funded research posts (posdocs) and PhD studentships will be advertised on our vacancies pages when available.
Lists of potential MSc projects and potential PhD projects for the next academic year are available. Unless clearly indicated, these projects do not have funding directly attached and require candidates to apply separately to scholarship schemes or funding; we can provide advice on this. We can also sometimes offer summer internships for current undergraduate students (read an example here) or placements as part of postgraduate degrees elsewhere.
