AOG at the “European Research Council: Celebration of the University’s Success” event

The University’s Research Services office organised an evening event on the 25th of February 2019 to celebrate the various successes achieved at Kent with obtaining funding from the European Research Council (ERC) at various levels and across different faculties. Opened by our University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Karen Cox, and organised by deputy director Phil Ward, this event saw several past and current ERC grant-holders presenting their respective projects in broad terms (the audience being a mix of researchers and academics from the University’s three faculties!).

The AOG was well represented in this event, with several AOG members who have benefited from ERC funding in the past (through project COGATIMABIO and proof-of-concept follow-ups AMEFOCT and ADASMART) attending it. With 3 ERC awards under his belt, Prof Adrian Podoleanu was among those celebrated in this event; unfortunately, he was unable to attend it. Still, Phil Ward, helped by Dr Adrian Bradu in the more technical content, gave the audience an unique glimpse of what was achieved with these projects and the future research directions they have enabled.

We thank the University and Research Services for organising such an outstanding event, and congratulate all ERC grant holders (past and present) for their achievements, both in securing the funding and in carrying out the research enabled by it.
