The Lady’s Magazine: Understanding the Emergence of a Genre

The first five patterns below are all from a 1796 half-year of the Lady’s Magazine belonging to Jennie Batchelor. The second 3 are from a 1775 bound volume of the magazine belonging to Radio 3 presenter Penny Gore, who has kindly made her patterns available to project followers. The final 2 are happy additions found in a copy of the 1819 bound volume of the magazine purchased by Jennie.
