What are Researchers in Residence (RiRs)?

Together we comprise two co-located, bi-directional RiR roles:

  •  A newly established ‘Research Facilitator’ post at a local authority social care department (Kent County Council) with an honorary contract at an academic institution (University of Kent)
  • A shared academic researcher post with honorary status within Kent County Council (KCC).

What do RiRs do?

We do all of the following to build research capacity in adult social care across Kent.

How can we help you?

We organise and participate in numerous research engagement, training and support activities for staff working across adult social care and build and grow relationships which encourage social care research.  This includes:

  • supporting two thriving Communities of Practice
  • supporting social care staff and organisations to apply for research funding and fellowships
  • linking academic researchers with social care staff and managers to collaborate on new and existing research projects
  • making research advice and resources accessible to social care staff
