Finding CHSS

(NB: allow plenty of time for parking during term time.)
Use pay/display visitors’ car park behind Gulbenkian Theatre and Colyer-Fergusson Building.
£2 (3h) £6 (full day 08:00 to 17:00).

Directions from the Gulbenkian car park to CHSS:

  • Head towards the back of theatre building and take the path towards the road, then turn right.
  • Take the path running alongside Giles Lane, at the end, turn right.
  • Head diagonally towards Cornwallis North West.
  • Enter the building through the automatic doors, then turn left.
  • Head along the corridor, the doors at the end open automatically.
  • Enter George Allen Wing and follow signs to CHSS, 2nd floor via stairs or lift.

You will need to travel to one of Canterbury’s two stations: Canterbury East (from London Victoria) or Canterbury West (from London St Pancras International or Charing Cross).

Both train stations have taxi ranks and bus stops nearby their exits, please see the relevant sections below for how to proceed to the University from there.

Buses to The University of Kent run at regular intervals from Canterbury Bus Station, and there are a number of different services that you can use to travel to and from the University.
Whichever bus you take, to get to CHSS you will need to ask the bus driver for the Darwin College bus stop at the University.

Buses which serve the University include the Uni1, Uni2, Triangle Service (Whistable/Herne Bay), 26a, 4, 6, and 3.

To catch the green Unibus from Canterbury West train station, turn right out of the train station and walk along to the end of Station Road West. Use the zebra crossing to cross to the bus stop on the opposite side of St Dunstans Street.

To catch the green Unibus from Canterbury East train station, turn right out of the station and walk to the bus stop at Rhodaus Town.

If you wish to travel from to the University by taxi, ask the driver for the Darwin College bus stop at the University of Kent.
