Research interests

Design, assembly and testing of a polygon mirror (PM) based spectral filter for Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography (SS-OCT).

A detailed investigation of the system’s features and how they can be exploited to achieve maximum performance for OCT. Particular attention is given to maximising the power transmission via the reduction of vignetting seen at the PM’s facets while also optimising the system for OCT by maximising bandwidth and minimising instantaneous laser linewidth. This research has a direct impact on smaller laboratories wishing to conduct OCT experiments, on a budget, using a reliable and fast swept source capable of working at any wavelength. The project is being carried out and compared experimentally, theoretically and via simulation using ZemaxTM ray tracing software
