About

Education

The University of Kent, Canterbury PhD Physics 1997 – 2000, ‘Advances in OCT and Flow Imaging’
The research undertook during this PhD produced (authored or co-authored) more
than a dozen scientific papers and proceedings. The subject being a new non-
invasive imaging technology has been applied to the eye. The research culminated
in installation of systems at Moorfields Eye Hospital and The New York Eye and Ear
Infirmary.

For a short time (3 months in 2012), John was employed by the ERC grant. During this time he has worked on a multiple path configuration with active circulating rings. He has proven that by adding modulation of the active gain and better control of polarization, up to 10 en-face OCT images can be obtained simultaneously.

He has also contributed to novel configurations, useful for multiple path configurations for OCT and sensing, that have been protected by a patent application.
