Research Team: Prof Julie Beadle-Brown, Dr Agnes Turnpenny and Gabor Petri
Research
This project will be carried out in partnership with Mental Health Europe and aims to update the previous Mapping Exclusion Report published 4 years ago. The research will map institutional and community-based services in Mental Health and deinstitutionalisation strategies across Europe. It will also explore:
- the extent and reasons for forced admissions and treatment, the use of seclusion and restraint
- the cross-border perspective, particularly the phenomenon of sending adults with psychological disabilities to other countries for treatment
- the experiences of EU citizens who become ill in other member states of the EU
- innovative human rights complaint practices in the field of mental health
The project is funded by Open Society Mental Health Initiative – Open Society Foundations and runs for 12 months from September 2016. For further information contact Dr Agnes Turnpenny
