Equipment and Facilities

Synthesis forms the base of much of our research and we have several fully equipped modern synthetic chemistry labs. We also run and maintain a variety of large equipment including:

  • 2 NMR spectrometers
  • Single crystal diffractometer (Rigaku Supernova)
  • Particle sizers
  • Fluorescence spectrometer
  • Rheometer and tensiometer
  • 2 automated synthesisers
  • Nanodrop spectrometer
  • Microwave synthesiser
  • Thermocycler
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • EPR
  • Variable temperature reflectivity

Our group also uses a lot of other equipment within the Division of Natural Sciences including:

  • SEM
  • FT-IR spectrometers
  • UV-vis spectrometers
  • TGA/DSC
  • powder X-ray diffractometers
  • TEM
  • AFM
  • Raman spectrometer
  • HPLC
  • Fluorimeter
  • LC-MS
  • CD
  • SQUID magnetometry
