Dr Muzaffer Kutlay
About
Muzaffer Kutlay is a Lecturer in European Foreign Policy at the Department of European and International Studies, King’s College London. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent. Before moving to King’s, Muzaffer was a Lecturer in European Politics at the University of Kent (2017-2019) and Research Assistant to the H2020 UPTAKE project (691818). In 2017, she taught an MA module on Politics of Forced Migration at City, University of London as visiting lecturer and earlier, worked as researcher in a policy-oriented research institution and contributed as an analyst to several policy briefs. She has presented many papers and co-organised several workshops in co-operation with LSE Ideas, University of Kent’s Diplomacy @Kent Beacon Project, British Institute at Ankara, and Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) among others.

Dr Kutlay’s research interests currently focus on contemporary political debates of migration, refugees and persons belonging to minorities with a geographical focus on the EU and its member states. She is interested in exploring migration, refugee and minority rights policies at the local, national, regional and international levels and the critical role of political institutions, power sharing mechanisms and social capital in interethnic co-existence in post-conflict societies in Europe and facilitating voluntary return. As part of her ongoing research agenda, she has recently involved in several collaborative projects as contributor at different levels.
Teaching
Dr Kutlay has taught several UG and PG modules on Foreign Policy of the EU, East European Politics and Politics of Forced Displacement. She is currently module convenor for:
