CORE-FP at the University of Kent are seeking sites for a research project assessing the long-term effectiveness of the FIPP and FIP-MO treatment programmes.
This research is a collaborative project between the University of Kent and Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT). The research team is led by Dr Nichola Tyler (PI), Professor Theresa Gannon (Co-I), and Dr Lona Lockerbie (Co-I).
This research builds on our previous evaluations of the two programmes (Gannon et al., 2015; Tyler et al., 2018), which examined the short-term effectiveness of the interventions when delivered in a group format. As part of this project we want to look at the effectiveness of the programmes when delivered on either a group or individual basis. This means that you can take part regardless of whether you are delivering the FIPP or FIP-MO as a group or individually with clients. The study will look at outcomes for different subtypes of firesetters and whether the programmes result in actual behavioural change (e.g., reduction in firesetting incidents) by including a 10-year reoffending period.
As a treatment site all that will be involved in the research is completing a short background information sheet and asking participants for their consent to release an anonymised copy of their pre-post treatment questionnaires completed as part of standard FIPP/FIP-MO delivery. We will provide you with all materials to participate in the research.
