The Centre for the Global Study of Empire is an interdisciplinary and multi-lingual centre that aims to promote research and public engagement in the areas of colonialism, post-colonialism, and imperial studies from across the world.
The Centre’s mission is to forge an interdisciplinary research community within the Division of Arts and Humanities and across the University of Kent focused on the study of empire: its historical and contemporary practices, ideologies and legacies, and traditions of opposition and resistance.
The Centre hosts visiting speakers and writers, participating in and organising international conferences, workshops, and research networks, sustaining graduate research programmes and a research seminar, and securing external research funding.
