Communication network around a globe

The Antennas team has pioneered work in passive and active Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) technologies. We are well-known for our wearable button antennas and ultra-thin RFID tags and transfer tattoo antennas.

Current research topics in the Antennas area include Digital Manufacture of RFID tags and passive sensing wireless devices, FSS for electromagnetic architecture in buildings, printed mm-wave antennas, and 3D printing of frequency selective structures.

We collaborate with the Universities of Warwick, York, UCL, Loughborough, Surrey, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Queen Mary, London and Auckland, New Zealand and have project support from Great Ormond Street Hospital and DSTL.
