Feasibility of utilising ASCOT to assess resident Quality of Life (QoL) during infectious disease outbreaks

Professor Ann-Marie Towers

Dec 2023 – March 2024

Overview

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have commissioned UEA and the University of Kent to undertake a short exploratory study, to explore whether the Adult Social Care Outcomes Toolkit (ASCOT) has the potential assess the impact of infectious disease outbreaks on residents’ quality of life. We will use a case-study approach, working with four care homes with recent experience of managing an infectious disease outbreak, to explore the validity of the ASCOT domains for this purpose and assess the feasibility of using the tool in future research and evaluation in this area.
