About

I have been a part time PhD student at CHSS since September 2017.

My research project is on the epidemiology of swimming induced pulmonary oedema (SIPE), a condition that causes severe, sudden breathlessness during outdoor swimming. Many outdoor swimmers and clinicians are not familiar with SIPE which often leads to the condition being left undiagnosed. This study will improve the knowledge base around SIPE and will produce information and guidance to improve water safety for outdoor swimmers.

I am also employed by Kent Community Health NHS Trust as Health Inequalities Intelligence Manager. I have previously worked as a Research Associate at CHSS and in public health analytical roles in the NHS and Kent County Council. My research interests are in public health and epidemiology, with a particular focus on quantitative data analysis.
