About

Senior Research Fellow

I have been a researcher for over 20 years. I joined the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) in 2008 and moved to CHSS in 2020. Prior to joining the University of Kent I held senior research roles within central and local government, the health service and the non-profit sector.  My research at PSSRU focused on community models of support for older adults and people with intellectual disabilities. I have been principal and co-investigator for a number of projects funded by national bodies and for international comparative projects spanning 30 countries. I am a member of the South East and Central Research for Patient Benefit funding committee and the Advisory Board for the Research Design Service South East.

Co-production Theme Lead ARC KSS

I have a long-standing interest in public involvement in service development and research that began in 2006 when I was responsible for the strategy and implementation of public involvement at a university hospital in London. Since then, I have been involved in a wide range of activities in this area, for example, I initiated and co-ordinated public involvement within the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU)-led Quality and Outcomes of person-centred care Research Unit (2011-18) alongside public partners. In 2020 I joined ARC KSS to help set up an evolutionary co-production research programme and support to the core research themes.
