About

I recently joined CHSS (September 2021) as a research assistant after completing my MSc in Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University. My working background lies within the Early Years and Non-for-profit (Charity, Local Authority) Sectors, I also hold a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education , the Early Years Professional Status, a BA in Early Childhood Education and I am a trained Nursery Nurse.

My research skills are predominantly within qualitative analysis, and I have conducted a multitude of individual interviews and focus group interviews with a variety of people, including young children and elderly people, both within my studies and within the charity sector and my work within Cambridgeshire and Kent Children’s Centre’s. I also have experience in survey production, data analysis and writing data and impact reports for both academic, professional and general dissemination.

Research and applied research interests include Education and Development (Birth to Adult), Social and Health Care transformation, Health and Community Psychology, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities (specifically Children and Young People and female experiences), experiences of the effects of loneliness and isolation; with a particular focus on the positive aspects of social groups for improved health and well-being.

My MSc Research was a qualitative exploration into Mothers’ experiences of stress within the lock-down periods during the pandemic (2020-21), with a focus on how the stress manifested and the coping mechanisms employed by mothers during this time.
