About

I joined CHSS in November 2023, but before this, I attended the University of Cambridge for my Masters in Sociology and the University of Kent for my undergraduate studies in Liberal Arts.

I work with Professor Lisa Dikomitis and Professor Sukhi S Shergill to design and carry out our research to understand the relationship between young ethnic minorities and mental health research. This includes conducting interviews, workshops, and focus groups. I am responsible for assembling an Ethnic Minority Youth Advisory Group to work alongside the project. Lastly, I lead in creating the outputs of this project, including journal articles, podcasts, and community engagements.

Research interests

I have intersectional interests ranging from race, gender, religion, epistemic (knowledge) issues, and higher education. My undergraduate dissertation titled ‘Faith the Foundation and the Filter’ investigated the ambivalent relationship between faith, culture, and feminism in the lives of Nigerian Pentecostal women living in Britain. Then, I went into my MPhil, ‘In the Safe Space: How Women of Colour Cultivate Epistemic Justice in the Face of Epistemic (in)Justice, White Feminism and (in)validation’. I have also assisted on projects at the University of Kent within Student Success, looking into the attainment gap between White and minority students and racism on campus. Further, I have assisted academics in their research investigating Black Lives Matter activists and Culture Wars. Most recently, alongside my Master’s, I assisted on the Spurling Project at King’s College Cambridge, investigating current gendered experiences in Higher Education.
