Bi-monthly online meeting of the Inclusive Women’s Health Research Group (IWHRG) Wednesday 27th November 2024 from 1.00-2.00pm
The next bi-monthly online seminar of the Inclusive Women’s Health Research Group (IWHRG) is taking place on Wednesday 27th November 2024 from 1.00-2.00pm. The theme is Lived experiences of women’s health. We are very pleased to be joined by three guest speakers who have conducted research in the field. Please see details below.
- Dr Stella Bolaki will be exploring experiences of women’s health as communicated in visual, tactile and personal books (known as artists’ books) to emphasise the evocative power of such work, as well as its ethical and political implications for illness narrative study and medical education
- Dr Catherine Marchand and Kelly Sawyer will share their work in relation to phenomenology in health and care education, with the example of a midwife exploring health professionals’ lived experiences of vaginal examinations in labour. Catherine will present the study and discuss how this method can help deepen our understanding of the lived experiences of the health and care professionals and help both professional and students reach a deeper understanding of their own practice and professional journey. Kelly will present the results of her Masters dissertation titled “Midwives’ perceptions and experiences of vaginal examinations in labour: A qualitative study”
