The Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS) EDI group was created to ensure that CHSS staff have an opportunity to contribute to conversations and decision-making around equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Embracing every individual’s unique potential
The group aims to consider the specific needs and attributes of CHSS, creating a link between CHSS staff, the CHSS senior management team (SMT), and in turn to higher University organisational structures where EDI strategies are considered, planned, and reviewed. The group was initiated in late 2022.
By Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion we mean:
Equality – opportunity and access for all individuals within CHSS to achieve their full potential
Inclusion – the opportunity for all individuals to join and participate fully within CHSS
Diversity – the presence of various and different characteristics, experiences, identities, and ideas within CHSS
In addition, the CHSS EDI Group will ensure that intersectionality is carefully considered within the group’s remit.
By intersectionality we mean:
Intersectionality – understanding the ways that multiple forms of inequality or disadvantage sometimes compound themselves and create obstacles that often are not understood among conventional ways of thinking.
CHSS EDI group meetings are held bi-monthly online.
