Communities of Practice – Complex Needs – 5 March 2025

5 March 2025   |    12:00 – 13:00  |    Zoom

Research in social care is very important as it can inform social work practice and improve outcomes for people. The Kent Research Partnership is one of six capacity building, social care partnerships funded by the NIHR Health Services and Delivery (HS&DR) programme in England. Our four-year programme of work is developing sustainable Kent-based partnerships to support the delivery of high quality social care research on the topics that matter most in our region.

Our monthly Communities of Practice meetings are a key aspect of this work as they enable people from all backgrounds to come together to discuss their shared area of interest, learn from each other and existing research, and develop tangible research projects about the topic which will have a real impact on practice.

We are delighted to confirm our guest speakers for our March Complex Needs Community of Practice will be:

Cathy Bernal (Kent and Medway Medical School)

Marina Russ (Kingston University London)

Sammy Lamb (Bemix)

Daniel Marsden (Canterbury Christ Church University)

The title of the talk is ‘Kent Surrey Sussex Learning Disability Community of Practice: how to run and sustain a vibrant CoP’.  Cathy, Marina, Sammy and Daniel will be discussing the formation and history of the CoP briefly, before moving on to present an account of its current structure, communications and output, as well as the challengers to sustainability encountered along the way.

You are warmly invited to join us.
