Communities of Practice – Complex Needs – 11 February 2025

11 February 2025   |    12:00 – 13:00  |    Zoom

Research in social care is very important as it can inform social work practice and improve outcomes for people. The Kent Research Partnership is one of six capacity building, social care partnerships funded by the NIHR Health Services and Delivery (HS&DR) programme in England. Our four-year programme of work is developing sustainable Kent-based partnerships to support the delivery of high quality social care research on the topics that matter most in our region.

Our monthly Communities of Practice meetings are a key aspect of this work as they enable people from all backgrounds to come together to discuss their shared area of interest, learn from each other and existing research, and develop tangible research projects about the topic which will have a real impact on practice.

We are delighted to confirm our guest speaker will be James Faraday.

James is Clinical Educator for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Research based at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as well as and ARC Dementia Fellow.  James is a Speech and Language Therapist, and dementia care researcher.  His research focuses on making mealtimes better for people living with dementia, and helping care homes to engage in research.  He has worked with experts by experience to create a range of resources, including animation, video and training courses.

The title of his talk is ‘Better mealtime care for people living with dementia’ and we look forward to welcoming you to this discussion.
