We are delighted to announce that Patricia Wilson has now joined us as Professor of Primary and Community Care.
Tricia will lead the new Kent Academic Primary Care Unit (KAPCU) which is being set up at CHSS supported by Health Education England Funding awarded through the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. KAPCU will support the development of primary care research and training and the development of primary care practitioners across the region.
Before coming to Kent, Tricia was a Reader in Patient Experience in the Centre for Research into Primary and Community Care at the University of Hertfordshire. She has a clinical background and worked in community nursing before moving into Higher Education. Tricia has worked extensively within the area of patient and carer involvement in health services and over the past six years this has extended to a national and international profile in patient and public involvement (PPI) within NHS structures and health research. Her specialist interest is in long term conditions management, and she sees primary care as ‘the bedrock of the NHS’. We look forward to watching the unit develop under Tricia’s leadership.
