Joint Community of Practice – 20 Feb

20 February 2024   |    13:00 – 14:30  |    Zoom

Kent County Council, the University of Kent and partners are leading a project that aims to help build capacity and develop a positive culture of research.

Communities of Practice are a key aspect of this work as they enable people from all backgrounds to come together to discuss their shared area of interest, learn from each other and existing research, and develop tangible research projects about the topic which will have a real impact on practice.

In February 2024 we will be bringing both Communities of Practice together for a one-off “Joint CoP”. This CoP will focus on how to take ideas for research projects forward, including developing skills and applying for research funding.

Our speakers will be:

Gina Walton, Senior Project Manager in the Innovation Delivery Team at Kent County Council, and co-lead for the Kent Research Partnership. Gina will be talking about KCC’s digital roadmap and seeking collaborators with an interest in technology enhanced care to work with us on developing some research funding bids around this topic.

Nick Smith, Research Fellow at the University of Kent and member of the Kent Research Partnership team, will present ideas about bespoke training for people who are new to research, and especially researchers with expertise through lived experience and/or practice.

Who should attend:

  • Social care practitioners and managers
  • People who use social care
  • Family/friends who are carers for someone
  • Commissioners and providers of care
  • Researchers with an interest in social care
