Artists’ Books and the Medical Humanities

Artists’ Books and the Medical Humanities consisted of a symposium, exhibition and workshops. The symposium explored connections between artists’ books, health, illness and medicine from interdisciplinary perspectives. You can read some of the speakers’ presentations from the catalogue preview. The day also included a poetry reading by Clare Best and a screening of the documentary I Make Books.

Following this symposium in the UK, a panel on artists’ books featured in Tell Me What Hurts: Storytelling and the Healing Arts, a symposium in the US co-organised by the University of New England’s Maine Women Writers Collection and the University of Kent’s School of English.
