Dom Brightwell’s Successful PhD Viva

Engineered Polyproline Helices: Pioneering Supramolecular Chemistry at SISC

The SISC group at the University of Kent is delighted to announce the successful PhD viva of Dom Brightwell, which took place on 12 January. His thesis, entitled “Engineered Polyproline Helices for the Rational Design of Supramolecular Constructs,” marks a significant advancement in the field of supramolecular chemistry.

The viva, a pivotal moment in Dom’s academic journey, featured Dr Ben Pilgrim from the University of Nottingham as the external examiner and Dr Mandeep Chahal, a colleague from the SISC group at Kent, as the internal examiner. This event not only celebrated Dom’s personal achievement but also underscored the collaborative spirit and interdisciplinary approach prevalent within the SISC group.

Supervised by Dr Aniello Palma, a former academic of the SISC group who recently joined University College Dublin in Ireland, Dom’s research on engineered polyproline helices is poised to lead to innovative developments in the rational design of supramolecular constructs. His work stands as a testament to the cutting-edge research conducted at SISC.

Dom’s successful thesis defence is a reflection of his hard work and commitment, as well as the nurturing academic environment at SISC. The team extends its warmest congratulations to Dr Dom Brightwell on his well-earned success and eagerly anticipates his future contributions to the field.
