About

Jacob is currently pursuing a Research Master’s degree at the University of Kent, under the guidance of Dr Felipe Fantuzzi. His research project focuses on the computational exploration of Blatter-type radicals with the aim of discovering their potential applications in organic spintronics. In a newly established collaboration with Professor Panayiotis Koutentis from the University of Cyprus, this project is dedicated to the theoretical design of novel organic polyradicals, meticulously tuning their electronic properties to pave the way for future investigations in the realm of spintronics.

In 2023, Jacob achieved an Upper Second Class Honors degree in Chemistry from the University of Kent. His final-year project, also supervised by Dr Fantuzzi, delved into astrochemistry and the study of ethanolamine on interstellar ice models. This project involved a comprehensive investigation into the optimal configuration for ethanolamine binding within an interstellar ice model and the undergoing chemical reactions using density functional theory calculations.

Jacob’s background is a blend of British and Cypriot heritage, with his mother being born in Limassol, Cyprus. Born in Hastings, a picturesque seaside town along the east coast of England, Jacob brings a diverse cultural perspective to his academic pursuits. Jacob is a Christian, and apart from his passion for science, he finds enjoyment in activities such as working out at the gym, reading the Bible, and gaming.
