Spotlight on Innovation: Dr Shepherd's Lonsdale Prize Lecture on Thermally Responsive Materials
The SISC Group and the broader University of Kent community are proud to announce that Dr Helena Shepherd gave the Lonsdale Lecture at the 2024 BCA Spring Meeting in Leeds. Her talk was entitled “Thermally Responsive Molecules and Materials”. It gave an introduction to variable temperature X-ray diffraction experiments as well as an overview of her work in the area of Spin Crossover materials. You can find out more about her research and career here.
The Lonsdale Prize Lecture is held annually at the Spring Meeting of the British Crystallographic Association (BCA) to celebrate the legacy of Dame Kathleen Lonsdale. The Lonsdale Lecture is awarded by the BCA on the recommendation of the Early Stage Crystallographers Group. The range of topics encompasses all areas of crystallography and diffraction and the lectures tend to have an element of teaching.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr Shepherd on her well-deserved recognition and the Lonsdale Lecture Prize. Her contributions to the field of crystallography not only pave the way for future advancements but also continue to inspire and educate the scientific community. We eagerly anticipate the continued impact of her research and the innovative developments it promises to bring.
