Neutral fermi surfaces in electronic matter and possible realisations

Abstract:

A number of distinct electronic materials have been suggested to have Fermi surfaces of emergent neutral excitations. In these talks,  I will present a general discussion of such a phase of matter. I will describe what it means to have a neutral fermi surface, what it takes for this phenomenon to happen, and it’s occurrence in models.  I will discuss ideas in the literature on how to detect such a neutral fermi surface, and some of the suggested materials where it has been proposed to exist.
