Potential candidates wishing to join the Physics of Quantum Materials research group should describe their motivation to conduct one or several of the projects offered PQM academics in their application form.

Currently proposed projects include:

Unravelling Strong Correlations in Twisted 2D Multilayers (Dr G. Möller)

High Pressure Physics of Conductivity to Advance Energy Materials (Dr E Pugh and Dr G Mountjoy)

Coordination without Communication: Quantum Rendezvous Strategies (Dr J. Quintanilla and Prof P. Strange)

Materials for low-energy computing technologies (Dr S. Ramos)

It is also possible for candidates to develop their own project. Should this be of interest to you (and who expect to obtain at least an upper second class degree) your are strongly advised to develop their application in partnership with one of the PQM academics.

You can find general information about the group in the PQM website. Information about individual academics, including their research interests and recent publications, can be found under “People”. You are encouraged to contact academics directly. If in doubt, you may contact group leader Jorge Quintanilla in the first instance.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 5th March 2023 at 23:59 but you are strongly encouraged to contact your potential advisor by 12th of FEBRUARY 2023.
