Dirk Van Hulle

Leverhulme Visiting Professor, January – April 2016
Dirk Van Hulle is Professor of English Literature at the University of Antwerp. He directs the Centre for Manuscript Genetics and was President of the European Society for Textual Scholarship from 2009 to 2013. He is the principal investigator of the ERC project ‘Creative Undoing and Textual Scholarship’ (CUTS), full partner of the ‘DiXiT’ Marie Curie Initial Training Network on Digital Scholarly Editing, and trustee of the James Joyce Foundation. He is the editor of the new Cambridge Companion to Samuel Beckett (Cambridge University Press, 2015). With Mark Nixon, he is co-editor of the Beckett Digital Manuscript Project and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Beckett Studies. He is the author of Textual Awareness (University of Michigan Press, 2004), Manuscript Genetics (University Press of Florida, 2008), Modern Manuscripts (Bloomsbury, 2014) and co-author of Samuel Beckett’s Library with Mark Nixon (Cambridge University Press, 2013). He is the editor of Beckett’s Company (Faber, 2009) and of the first three modules in the Beckett Digital Manuscript Project, including a genetic edition of Beckett’s The Unnamable (Bloomsbury, 2014) with Shane Weller, and Krapp’s Last Tape (Bloomsbury, 2017).

Rosanne Bezerra de Araújo

Visiting Research Fellow, February 2015 – December 2015
Rosanne Bezerra de Araújo joined us from the Department of Modern Foreign Languages at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Her doctoral thesis, which she completed at the University of Nottingham and the Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil, was on ‘Nihilism in Contemporary Literature’, with a particular focus on Samuel Beckett. In her postdoctoral research, she is continuing to focus on the question of nihilism in Beckett’s work, especially his plays.

Lucie Campos

Visiting Research Fellow, March 2014 – April 2014
Lucie Campos Mitchell has been teaching comparative literature since 2004 in a number of French universities (Versailles, Poitiers, Caen, Reims, Toulouse). She is currently maître de conférences at the Collège de France in Paris where she works for the Institut du Monde Contemporain as a co-editor of the online journal La vie des idées [Books & Ideas]. She has worked on intersections between literature, history and politics in 19th and 20th-century literature, namely in the works of J.M. Coetzee, W.G.Sebald and Imre Kertész, and is the author of Fictions de l’après. Coetzee, Kertész, Sebald (Classiques Garnier, 2012). Co-edited volumes include (with Georges Chapouthier, Catherine Coquio, Jean-Paul Engélibert), La question animale (Presses Universitaires de Rennes, 2011) and ‘W.G. Sebald’ special number of Europe (with Raphaëlle Guidée), March 2013. She has published another volume on Imre Kertész (with Clara Royer and Catherine Coquio, 2014) and is also a general editor, with Catherine Coquio and Emmanuel Bouju, of the book series Littérature, histoire, politique for Classiques Garnier.

Marcel Lepper

Visiting Research Fellow, October – November 2013
Marcel Lepper is Director of Research at the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach. One of the pivotal younger figures in the research landscape of contemporary Germanistik, Dr Lepper has taught at universities in Germany and the US and is an editor of both Geschichte der Germanistik and the Zeitschrift für Ideengeschichte. His principal publications include the co-edited volumes Strukturalismus in Deutschland, Literatur- und Sprachwissenschaft 1910-1975 (2010) and Entdeckung der frühen Neuzeit. Konstruktion einer Epoche der Literatur- und Sprachgeschichte seit 1750 (2011), as well as the recent study Philologie. Zur Einführung (2012). The project on which he worked as Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Modern European Literature, is Quelle und Prinzip: Poetische und philologische Grundlagen 1700-2000 (2018).
