In the most recent exchange between UK and Thai researchers as part of the GCRF project, Tarit Mukhopadhyay (UCL) presented his research at the International Symposium on Human and Veterinary Viruses, which was held in Bangkok on the 12th-13th of February. The conference was organised by the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Experts in both human and veterinary virology from Thailand, France, Belgium, UK and China presented their research to an international audience. A broad range of topics were discussed, including the latest research on porcine, avian and human viruses as well as technological platforms for vaccine development. The conference was an excellent opportunity for researchers in the GCRF project to interact with other experts in virology and to introduce the aims of our project; which include the production of vaccines against a virus that causes significant economic losses to the Thai swine industry, porcine circovirus (PCV).
